Within MLB’s Postseason Pursuit, These Are the “Races” That Remain

While some teams have been locked into their postseason slots for a significant amount of time, other still have something to play for. Here’s the rundown.

So what are the races that still exist within Major League Baseball’s push for the postseason. Let’s chop this one up by league.

American League

Wild Card Positioning

Technically, the Baltimore Orioles could still catch the Seattle Mariners for the final wild card spot, as they remain 4 games back (4.5 back of the Tampa Bay Rays and 6.5 back of the Toronto Blue Jays). But it’s unlikely they will actually catch them. Really, the AL Wild Card race will come down to positioning, and who will host whom in the first round.
