NFL Week 8 Picks

Inching toward the halfway point in the regular season, Mike Hallihan and Andy Jardine keep the (foot)ball rolling and drop their Week 8 NFL picks.

Well, time of the essence. And often something we don’t have an abundance of. However, released picks before the games are played is one of my commandments. So here’s the Week 8 Picks with some one-liner commentary. Oh, and Happy Halloween!

* Home team in CAPS

Dolphins (+14) over BILLS: A huge spread and the Dolphins have been putrid this season, but I’m expecting a sneaky backdoor cover by a point or two.

FALCONS (-3) over Panthers: Even with Ridley out, I think the Falcons can muster up enough offense with Cordarrelle Patterson and company to outpoint the Panthers, who are having a bit of quarterback drama at the moment.

BROWNS (-4) over Steelers: Cleveland (getting healthier with Chubb and Landry back) needs to bounce back and what a better way than to take care of a division rival in your own building.

JETS (+11) over Bengals: I hate everything about the Jets, included their quarterback situation, I just hate double-digit spreads on the road, so I’m taking the points; no offense to the Bengals and their amazing start.

COLTS (-3) over Titans: The Titans are playing very well, but Indy needs this game more and I love them at home here to get back to .500.

LIONS (+3) over Eagles: Something has to give with how hard the Lions have been playing of late and this might be their most winnable game yet. Dan Campbell deserves one.

BEARS (+4) over 49ers: With two teams that are near impossible to figure out, I’ll take the points for the Bears at home with a west coast team travelling to the Windy City. Justin Fields needs to play better, and will.

TEXANS (+16) over Rams: I’m loving the home dogs today, and while the Rams are a juggernaut, that’s too many points at home, even with the Texans sucking.

SEAHAWKS (-4) over Jaguars: One of the more disappointing teams of 2021 (even with Wilson in there), I expect the Seahawks and their defense to wrap up the Jags here.

CHARGERS (-4.5) over Patriots: Looks like the Chargers are going to have Austin Ekeler for this game, which gives them a boost which I already didn’t feel they needed. Despite 54 points last week (it was against the Jets), the Pats won’t be able to keep up against a real team.

Buccaneers (-4) over SAINTS: This game is a bit of a toss up, as the Saints are playing well, but until proven otherwise, I’ll keep rolling with the Bucs favored against almost anyone on less than a touchdown.

BRONCOS (-3.5) over Washington: Both teams are sliding but I like the Broncos offense getting Jerry Jeudy back, that could be the difference, as the Washington defense gives up a ton of yards to wide receivers (last in the league).

VIKINGS (-2.5) over Cowboys: Though I think I like the Vikings here anyway, I’m making this pick with confidence if the Cowboys have to start Cooper Rush over Dak Prescott. Vikes certainly need the win more and have plenty of offense to match Dallas.

CHIEFS (-10) over Giants: Giants will be missing key pieces again and the Chiefs haven’t needed a win this bad in years. They should blow them out.
